Bill Cosby’s Rant
They’re standing on the corner and they can’t speak English. I can’t even talk the way these people talk: Why you ain’t, Where you is, What he drive, Where he stay, Where he work, Who you be… And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk.
Everybody knows it’s important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can’t be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.
People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we’ve got these knuckleheads walking around. The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what? And they won’t spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.
I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn’t know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father?
People putting their clothes on backward: Isn’t that a sign of something gone wrong? People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn’t that a sign of something? Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up? Isn’t it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?
What part of Africa did this come from? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don’t know a thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail.
Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person’s problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back. People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different ‘husbands’ — or men or whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can’t write two paragraphs. We as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us. We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.
We cannot blame the white people any longer.

Amazing that Bill Cosby would blame his own people for the effect of racism on their lives; just amazing. “Higher education” sure whitewashed him.
I can not speak for Bill Cosby, but I would blame comments such as “whitewashed” for “the effect of racism” on our lives rather than on Bill Cosby’s “own people”. Also, who are Bill Cosby’s “own people”? Americans? I know you meant black people, which goes to show that we, as americans of various races, are refusing to look beyond race, thus keeping racism alive. It is my hope that we will stop segregating ourselves like this.
I believe that he should put his money where his mouth is. I am a produce of a single mother household, whose mother was (now deceased) a college educated middle school teacher. I am also a produce of community teen centers, 4-H clubs and after school activities. Bill could better impact so-called Poor Blacks by following the lead of people like Magic Johnson, Kevin Johnson and some of the other millionaire Black folks who have invested in neighborhoods that the government devested in. I became disenchanted with Bill in 2005 during the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Drive. The rolloing credits at the end of the UNCF showed Steven Spielberg and his wife donating %500,000 to the 2005 UNCF Drive and Bill and Camille donating $10,000. I don’t think that he is required to contribute, however, I’d rather hear what Steven Spielberg has to say over anything Bill utters. By the way, my mother would not allow us to watch Fat Albert and the Gang because she said that it promoted ignorance – didn’t Cosby make millions off of that show?
rudy is a really sweet kid.
Cosby said that people named Muhammad were a problem. In fact he said “they’re all in jail”. How then anyone can say that he spoke absolute 100% truth is beyond me. What is true is that conservatives agree with him 100%. All people named Muhammad are not in jail. That is pure hyperbole.
Additionally, when we asked to have council with him, to try and get a better understanding of the parts that we didn’t agree with, he went on yet another rant, saying he didn’t have to qualify himself to no one, not even the people he claims to want to inspire. To me this is the kind of elitism that has infected black “leadership” that they feel they can act with impunity and not have to answer to the people they claim to be speaking for.
I saw Cosby being interviewed by Tavis Smiley and in the interview Tavis brought up the FACT that Cosby’s character named “mushmouth” in fact used the language that he now speaks against. Bill responded: “So what? I’m a millionaire.” Hardly someone to look to for rationale.
Language is dead when it stops changing. and what is the big deal about backwards hat and low pants???? white guys do it, and black guys do it, even white skater boys do it! it’s been common since the 80’s! It’s no big deal as long as you don’t think it’s ok to talk lots of slang in an interview or on the job. Dress professionally while working, then afterwards, dress for your homeboys or for the club…there’s a time and a place.
Please don’t even get me started on Mr.Cosby. He is correct in every accusation and occurrence. I was ”bussed” to a better school because,I lived in a white ghetto, its called a trailer park. My father served his country in Vietnam and became a horrid alcoholic and my mother was a waitress. I was 7 years old chopping fire wood for a wood stove in the early morning before school came at 6:45am.
My brother and I went to school in the same clothes, day after day and ate reduced lunches. My mother was to ashamed to accept free lunch.Even with his alcoholism my father manned up and worked the rotating shift at the water plant in our county. My mother continued to wait tables and love us as best she could.
Forever telling us, you are smart, you can do it,go to school, do the best you can. So, we did! My brother is now a highly successful real estate developer and I live in London and my first fiction novel is due to e released in December.
It has nothing to do with poverty it has to do with effort. Plain and simple.
Bill Cosby is old and it shows! What he does not say is SOME minorites and what he does is blanket all black people which is disrespectful. He disrespects many black Americans who unlike him respect their family and their marriage. My mother is retire teacher my grandfather worked 45 years at General Motor 25 of those 45 years he worked two jobs. THEY ARE BLACK PEOPLE! Most of my life I worked in law enforcement! I don’t know all 38 million black America nor do Bill Cosby. All his edaucation talk and he still say thing stupid!
i think mister cosby is right on with every thing he said, white people should not be blamed for the way these black kids act after all the mothers of these thugs undoughtly have no idea in how to rase these chicken suckers or they would have taught them some thing. so to mr. cosby, keep up the good work and tell them like it is and maby thruth will set them free.
You are absolutely freaking RIGHT MR. COSBY. I hope you become the President after Obama’s run. For real. November 2012! Get ready.
I agree.
But he is pandering to whites who made and keep him rich.
Blacks should have never blamed white people for their misfortunes, and failures.
Here, a hen is trying to blame a fox why the fox ate and keeps eating it alive. Moreover, a hen wants to remain a hen.
Yes,whites have the right to call themselves European-Amercans. This is a racist message from him deying whites to do that.
He knows that minorities are marching towards being a majority in this country. He simply tells them that if they do not want to have a standard of living like those blacks have had in Africa once they are in a position of power, they had better do sometning about themselves, because whites will no longer be in any position to pay for their way and give them a decent standard of living.
The “blacks” he is referring to are just like the “red necks” of our race. Poor parenting is easily the number one reason a child grows up to be a criminal. The whole “I wanna be my child’s friend and blame everyone else when he lies and causes trouble” way of parenting is why the child will end up dead, in jail, or with about 15 kids from 15 people. Even when cops shoot a white guy, here comes the news with their monday morning quarterbacking of 800 things they think the officer should have done. How bout this, If you wanna be a criminal and shoot at police then here’s a 88 cent bullet for your worthless brain. I’m sick of lawyers fighting for criminals (which come in ALL colors) while the poor victim can’t get any friggin justice. The fact that you can be caught red handed breaking the law and still find someone to represent you and try to use some bull#$% excuse like “mommy didn’t hug me anough” or “its cause I’m black” or “I don’t have a job”. The sad truth is mommy should have hugged you more but you are responsible for your own actions. Bill Cosby is preaching responsibility. If that is offensive to people then its obvious how bad it has gotten in this country. Liberals make me sick and Republicans scare me. I guess I’m screwed when it comes to voting.
Joe:
How prejudiced can you be? You automatically assume all of those things about Omar from one simple comment that doesn’t imply those things at all, except that he’s not a great speller. He disagrees with Cosby and he’s just voicing his opinions. I personally agree with Cosby, but I don’t agree with some of the comments I’ve been seeing on here, especially yours Joe.
OK i understand what he’s saying but he shoulda thought about that when he was making those BLACKPLOITATION MOVIES such as Up Town Saturday NIght an LETS DO IT AGAIN when he was talking all JIVE TALK an hustling ppl in that movie … thaat generation grew up Idolizing things like that ….so the generation he is talking about now…gets it from the parents that grew up watching his crap an now he wants to be a Hypocrite
