Viagra from Pfizer vs Generic Sildenafil

This is a comparison review of Viagra made by Pfizer and generic Sildenafil pills, written after my own experience with both.

Long story short: Generic Viagra offers me the best bang for the buck, and I buy it from these guys.

First I will give you a little bit of background about the medicine and about my affection.

Sildenafil citrate was discovered by two Pfizer chemists in the Kent research facility from Great Britain in the year 1996. Since ‘98, Pfizer Inc. has marketed this substance with the name Viagra as treatment for erection problems. Though I am somewhat ashamed of this, that’s exactly my problem too. The "symptoms" started 4 years ago when I turned 39. My penis I am unable to arouse the organ and maintain erections for pleasurable amounts of time. So I was prescribed by the doc. 50mg of Viagra branded Sildenafil citrate before going to bed. (Yes, you need a prescription for Sildenafil in Europe too).

I’ve been loyal to Pfizer’s Viagra and to my doctor’s pharmacy for quite some time now, but the fact that only one 50mg tablet costs me $18 makes sex less pleasurable at 43. As I grow old the value of sex on drugs diminishes so I decided to try the alternative: Generic Viagra.

Enough with the pillow talk, let’s get to some serious experience tales.

I did some research online and found this website called Canadian Meds World that sells generic Sildenafil citrate tablets starting $1.79 for the ones containing 50mg. Well that’s exactly 10 times cheaper than the ones my family doctor gave me. Where’s the catch? I dug more about this online pharmacy that claims to be owned by "Canadian Pharmacy" and found out that they display fake certificates from Verisign, Pharma Checker, ADA and CidaRx on their product pages and also fake security certified logos from Visa, GeoTrust, Verisign and ScanAlert on their order processing page. Fake logos of pharmacy certification

Now I knew the pharmacy is not entirely legal, but I really wanted the 10 Viagra, 10 Cialis "trial pack" on sale for $69. And guess what? With that I am also eligible for another 4 free Viagra pills. It’s a risk I was willing to take. $70 dollars is not much in comparison to what I used to pay.

Well, I placed the order and after 15 days the package arrived. Huray! Overall, the order process was good, except for the initial fear of fraud. It’s prety descrete, in a small cartboard box. Here are the generic Sildelafil and Tadalafil, Viagra resp. Cialis lookalikes:

Viagra Generic and Cialis Generic

As you can see, they are very much similar to the original brand Viagra I have. The tablets resemble the same shape and size, only the plastic is of lower quality. I’m not paying for plastic after all…:

Original 4 Viagra tablets pack from Pfizer Inc.

Effects

  • I experienced no difference from the original when used the generic Sildenafil.
  • The Generic is harder to snort, thus it takes a few minutes longer to get into my system. Viagra is harder and thus can be granulated to finer powder.
  • Though I never tried Cialis before, it took a little longer for it to kick in: 40minutes. This may be the standard timing.

Overall:

Viagra is Sildenafil citrate and so is Generic Viagra. The difference is who makes them and how expensive they are.

I’ll have to agree! I ordered some of the generic from Can. , after I placed the order I did a little online research and read where all generics were supposed to be frauds.
I then got a “real” prescription for Viagra….after using both I actually like the “fraud” stuff better!

Around March this year, I ordered some generic Viagra from interpill.com – which is not working anymore. I experienced the same however I think the 50mg generic was not equal to 50mg from Pfizer. I am over 60 and 50mg the generic they sent was not enough while the Pfizer 50mg worked perfect to me. So I think they cheated on the strength. Still, not a disappointment because at my local drugstore Pfizer brand is 14$; insanely expensive! I just placed an order on the canadianmedsworld site, hopefully they are better than interpill.

    Good bye…

My dog was also prescribed with pulmonary hypertension by the vet and he also mentioned Viagra. I thought he was kidding.
He said to search for Revatio, a viagra derivate, or low dosage viagra.
Have you tried generic on your dog after all? I want to buy 25mg generics and try them but I want a second oppinion. What dose did your cardiologist recommend?

As my father moved into his mid to late 70’s he was also prescribed Viagra for increased blood flow throughout his arterial system. It seemed to work well for him. As a side note he really enjoyed telling his nurses to order him more Viagra and see the look on their faces. The fun he had with them made him feel better. I guess the drug companies could call this an unexpected side effect and use it for marketing purposes. Ha!

HI, I have been using generic V for a couple of years now, the first two deliveries I had were of excellent quality and were no different to original V that I had been prescribed for, the last purchase I made from a company called Kamagra Kamagra UK, they look the same and are from Ajanta Pharma but are of a much poorer quality, a far weaker strength, and three of my friends who have also tried them agree, they are not worth the money. I just wish I could remember who I bought the first ones off. My recommendation is that if you are happy with the company you buy from and they work, stay with them, do not buy from another just because they are cheaper, you may be disappointed.

      Hello Mike!

Have you found the pharmacy you bought the first pills from? I am happy with Canadian Meds World, but am willing to try another and see how it compares to my first choice.

      Hi Bear:

I’m in the same boat. Can’t afford the name brand any longer. What website did you log into and what was the pharmacy name?

My husband needs to buy Viagra. Where online did you purchase your generic V?

Also, did you say you purchased the 100mg and if so, are they scored, making it easy to split in half?

Did I read “snort” correctly? Why do you snort this as apposed to just ingesting it. Is this a common practice, albeit alternative approach to taking a prescribed medication. Excuse me for being naive, I’m just interested to learn the reason for that. Thanks

      Hi Alex!

You read correctly. I snort viagra when I need a “quickie” because it goes into my blood faster. This is not a common practice, and you should definitely not do it if you haven’t had any practice… snorting drugs. Actually, I don’t recommend anyone to snort V or any other oral intended medicine; read and follow the printed instructions from the doctor/pharmacy. I am not responsible for your own actions. That being said, I use 100mg pills because they have less inactive ingredients (e.g. microcrystalline cellulose) and more sildenafil juice, thus making it easier for my nose. Half a pill is enough, and the brand does make a difference, however I am satisfied with generics too.

PS: It hurts… just ask my wife.

Why “snort” anything? I must be getting old. What is wrong with the traditional way of ingesting it and waiting a half hour? You could even have a meaningful conversation during that 30 minutes, ha ha. C,mon……..surely , your schedule can accommodate that amount of time and save your nasal cavities from being destroyed!

You think snorting it is strange. Wait until you find out what it means to “booty bump” a drug like Viagra

My pharmacy told me the patent for Viagra runs out in 2011. The generic version, inspected by the US food & drug folks, should become available then AND the existing version of Viaga should have a significant drop in price… Has anyone else heard that news or can anyone verify if this is true or not ???

That did not happen as it is 2012 and Viagra still cost the same

    Hello Alex,

I have a rather serious question. I have used GV over the last year and noticed that it works exactly like the expensive Pfizer monopoly stuff. However, now Pfizer is demanding suppression of these drugs on the questionable grounds that they might contain something harmful. Has anyone else had some sort of medical problem from using these? I haven’t, as far as I can tell, and I do suspect Pfizer is full of sh– but I guess it is something to be concerned about.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had little to no success using the generic drugs and if so have they tried the real thing? I purchased a sample pack from Canadian Pharmacy “edm-pharmacy.com” and they used a picture that appears to be the real drug but i received a generic. Wasn’t disappointed till i took the pill and it really didn’t seem to help very much. I expected a harder throbbing sensation that i got at a younger age and just received the typical strong sensation that i typically get. I’m wondering if this is a bad dose or if the product will even work for me? Maybe my expectations are incorrect? The discrete brown package came from Indonesia i believe. Witch immediately threw me off i expected it from Canada?? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated…

We should make sort of a list of the online pharmacies that actually deliver the goods. I have had the exact same experience as you with another pharmacy, but only after being tricked by two others. Yes, I was persistent, because the amounts risked were small, and I have made a Visa intended for just these kind of risky purchases – even if they steal it, there’s hardly anything on it most of the time. I recommend you do the same.
I received my pills in 6 days, it was very discretely packaged, as you said, and also contained the bonus you mentioned. The appearance of the pills was exactly the one in your picture. They appear to be new on the market, and actually have a blog that is apparently written by a doctor of sorts. Granted, I don’t know if he’s actually a doctor, but the articles seem original and very informative. I will order from them again.
I found this blog when doing a bit of an indepth research into the subject and wanted to share my experience.
I will not name any of the pharmacies here, because I don’t actually know what your policy is with these things.

I would say that buying generic medication is much pleasurable that spending large sums of money on expensive brand medications that have the same effect. I buy only generics since I tried them the first time.

I tried the pfizer viagra and it was great . It gave me the best erection I ever had . I tried this canadian generic viagra and there is no match at all.. This generic viagra is made in india origionally.. I totally doubt that the ingredients are the same.. It is a waste of money and definitly a health hazard.. I will never try it again.. I went back to pfizer and I love it ..If u looking for good quality then do not expect it to come from india..I will stick with pfizer and the only way I switch is when they allow companies in US to make generic viagra at least I will feel safe taking it..Do not put any drug in your system that has not been verified and inspected by FDA …..I work in the medical field and I really mean it..

Has anybody in Canada found a reliable source for ordering Viagra on-line?? I occasionally get an order through, but most are opened and confiscated by Canada Customs and I do not remember the companies that I ordered from that I actually received the product from. I have order from different websites and the packging is always generic so it is hard to tell which on-line company I had ordered from. I had tried prescrition Viagra but it is over-priced and have stayed with the generic viagra for the last 4 yrs or so. The generic still works great…
